Prime Volleyball League renews broadcast deal with Sony Sports Network for 2025 season

To maximize reach and cater to a global audience, every match will also be live-streamed worldwide on the Prime Volleyball League’s official YouTube channel.

The Prime Volleyball League (PVL), India’s premier professional volleyball competition, has announced the continuation of its highly successful broadcast partnership with Sony Sports Network.

This renewed agreement has firmly established Sony Sports Network as the official broadcast partner for India for the upcoming 2025 season, marking the fourth consecutive year of this impactful collaboration.

The enduring partnership highlights the PVL’s burgeoning popularity and its remarkable progress as a homegrown sporting league. The 2025 Prime Volleyball League season is set to electrify fans starting October 2, 2025.

Under the terms of this expanded agreement, all PVL matches will be broadcast live across the extensive Sony Sports Network channels throughout the Indian subcontinent. To maximize reach and cater to a global audience, every match will also be live-streamed worldwide on the Prime Volleyball League’s official YouTube channel. This strategic dual-platform approach ensures that both traditional television viewers and digitally-native audiences can experience the thrilling action.

Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer – Distribution & Head – Sports Business, Sony Pictures Networks India, expressed his enthusiasm for the continued partnership and said, “We are pleased to continue our partnership with the Prime Volleyball League. We are committed to the growth of homegrown leagues and our association with PVL is a testament to that. We are looking forward to a dynamic season this year with some of the brightest Volleyball stars taking centre stage.”

Tuhin Mishra, Co-Founder & MD of Baseline Ventures, added, “This is a big moment for Indian volleyball. Sony Sports Network returning for a fourth straight season validates the league’s growing impact. And we’re excited to use our presence on YouTube as a game-changing step toward taking PVL to a truly global and younger audience. These partnerships will significantly expand the reach of PVL and bring our exciting brand of volleyball to a wider audience. With the player auction in Calicut and the season starting on October 2nd, we are gearing up for our biggest and most exciting season yet.”

Beyond live match telecasts, Sony Sports Network and the PVL’s YouTube channel are dedicated to delivering a comprehensive and immersive content experience. Fans can look forward to a rich array of offerings, including match highlights, recaps, exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, and various other engaging content IPs designed to deepen fan engagement and provide a truly immersive viewing journey.

Setting the stage for the upcoming season, the PVL Season 4 player auction, held in Calicut on June 8, 2025, generated significant buzz. Ten franchises, including the debutant Goa Guardians, engaged in intense bidding for top talent. A total of 789 players went under the hammer, with franchises collectively spending over ₹6 crore. A major highlight was the fierce bidding war for last season’s MVP, Jerome Vinith C, who was eventually acquired by Chennai Blitz for a staggering ₹22.5 lakh, making him one of the highest-paid players. Calicut Heroes, the defending champions, also showed their hometown pride by securing local favourite Shameemudheen for the same amount, while Kochi Blue Spikers matched the top bid to bring in Vinit Kumar. The auction set the stage for an exciting Season 4, with teams carefully crafting their squads with a mix of retained players and new high-value acquisitions, all in anticipation of the October 2025 kick-off.

The strengthened partnership between the Prime Volleyball League and Sony Sports Network marks another crucial milestone in the evolution of Indian volleyball, promising an action-packed and widely accessible 2025 season for fans worldwide.
